Dark But Doable

"Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory." Psalm 73:23-24

The more I get older, the more I realize how hard and dark this life can be. I don't know where I would be without my faith. I often have been tempted to abandon my faith in the face of circumstances that seemed so incomprehensible and intense I was convinced God must have abandoned me. And yet...I've come to realize faith is staying strong no matter the circumstances. I'm coming to the place where I can say "Though He slay me, yet I will trust in Him...." Job 13:15. Whatever God puts me through, I trust in Him.

After all, isn't that what faith is at it's core? It's not necessarily faith if it all makes sense. Reminds me of a quote by C.S. Lewis in his novel "The Screwtape Letters" where an older demon is training a younger one in how to destroy one man's faith. The demon writes "Be not deceived, Wormwood, our cause is never more in jeopardy than when a human, no longer desiring but still intending to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe in which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys." Of course, in case you missed it, this does not only apply to a Christian faithful in trial but is also the perfect description of Christ on the cross Who still chose faith in utter darkness. So if He, Who is our leader in everything can do it, so can we. It's dark, but doable.

Let's Carpe Diem and use this day to dig our roots just a little deeper so we can weather whatever storms come our way.

Fondly,

Mars.
